How many driving lessons do I need?
It all depends on your standard of driving. The first driving lesson with us is an evaluation lesson. After we have seen what your ability is, we can make a recommendation on what you still need to learn in order to be up to standard with all the K53 methods of driving. We determine on what level you are now, and then take you up to the level that you should be. The instructor knows exactly what will be expected of you in the drivers test, and will inform you accordingly.

What will I learn during a driving lesson?
With the first lesson you will be driving on a quiet road. You will be taught the correct K53 methods for stopping, changing gears, clutch control, moving off etc. When you are able to do this with confidence and up to standard, you will be taught all the parking. If you can do the parking, you are ready to make an appointment for a drivers test.

What must I be able to do during the yard test?
The pre-trip inspection
Parallel parking (both sides)
Alley docking (both sides)
The three point turn
The incline start

What are the general causes for someone to fail the driver's test?
They bump a obstacle - The vehicle is rolling back or forward during the test - Not enough K53 observations and blind spots - the vehicle is not roadworthy - They don't comply with the rules of the road.

How much does a learners booking cost ?
It is different for each province. In Gauteng, you will now pay R 80 to confirm your learners test appointment and R 45 when your learners license is issued

How much does a license booking cost ?
It is different for each province, and for each License code. In Gauteng, you will now pay R 180 to confirm your drivers test appointment and R 165 when your learners license is issued for code B (code 8)
For a truck license, you will pay R 190 for the driving license booking and R 165 when it is issued.

When may I start taking driving lessons at a driving school?
You must be in possession of a learners license for the code of drivers license that you intend doing. If you do not have a learners license, refer to our learners license course

Can I make a learners license or drivers license appointment on behalf of someone else ?
Yes and no. You can pfone the call centre to book the appointment on behalf of someone else, but they must go to the testing station to confirm the booking in person.

May I carry a photostat copy of my learner's license or driver's license instead of the original ?
No. When driving, you must always be able to present the original document.

How long is my licence valid for ?
Your Learners License is valid for 18 months. A driver's license is valid for five years, and can be renewed without having to do the K53 drivers test again. while a professional driver's permit is valid for two years.
